i never knew there was so much to know about umbrellas, till today. went down to caseys today to pick up the umbrella i'd left behind last week... and it wasn't there! the umbrella they'd found was RED and BIG and so not mine. so it was like, cloud of doom and gloom (haha rochelle) and i was determined to buy a pretty umbrella to make up for it. WHICH was when i realised how dificult it was to find umbrellas. at esprit's they didn't have the cute small brollys in the pretty casings anymore, AND it was still as ex! the injustice, the exploitation! so wandering around the basement at cwp, i espied an umbrella stand! yayness! this other girl was there and the auntie was showing her pretty silver small umbrellas with FLYING PIGS all round the inner border! and the auntie really has a passion for umbrellas like no other! she was quite panicked when she saw me keeping the 'brella. NONO CANNOT, must SHAKE out nicely, smooooth nicely, then keep... and she proceeded with her lecture: UM1101. lesson ONE she: dark lining better, keeps out more sun. not so hot on the face; then next time you won't get so many liver spots etc. me: hmmm great will try while i row! lesson TWO silvertop umbrellas = parasol = blocks sun cos of reflective surface. those clothy type = parapluie = for repelling rain apparently it's less absorbent, so dries faster. (i've been using the wrong one all along!) butBUT, the silvertops have print on the inner coloured surface, and the print on the coloured tops' on the outside. and flying piggies should be on the INSIDE, not the OUTSIDE! it's just more... subtle. less, explicit. so stubbornly will use parasols! now i can't wait for it to rain!! :)))
why does succumbing to materialism please me so?
